PTO Board & Committee Structure for 2025-2026
Background
On January 10, 2025, the PTO Board of Directors approved a new PTO Board Structure - to launch with the 2025-2026 Board (members to be voted in during our May Board Meeting - for the school year starting in September).
The structure was designed to:
- create a balanced reporting structure - ensuing that no one person is tasked with overseeing too much
- encourage succession planning
- clearly define roles
The org chart itself also gives us an easy "at-a-glance" way to see all of the programs that PTO manages!
Our goal is to make the PTO board welcoming for all parents - with clear descriptions of expectations that can be balanced as a working, single or stay-at-home parent!
We encourage all HCE families to review the new structure, learn more about the opportunities, and get involved!
Please note that there are NO CHANGES to the current board positions as outlined on our PTO page. The new structure is for NEXT school year.

Learn more about the Roles
While many of the roles seem very self-explanatory from just the org chart, we encourage all interested individuals to read through the STRUCTURE OVERVIEW document for more details.
The overview describes the expectations for board roles (those depicted in orange and blue) and committee leads (those depicted in green). In some cases, it also goes into more detail about what the committee topic actually handles - as some titles were shortened for the chart. If you aren't familiar with some of the programs, we recommend you visit the About the PTO page, as well as look at our Brought to you by the PTO page for a little more detail.
If you are considering a role within the Board or on a committee next year - we encourage you to read the overview before moving forward!
LET US KNOW WHAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN!
After reviewing the overview... we want to hear ALL of the areas you want to get involved! We ask that you complete our survey - and check ALL the boxes of the topics/positions you want to help with. Already know someone is in that role? Not sure you are ready to be the lead but want to help on a committee? Not totally sure what's involved but want to learn more even after reading the overview? CHECK THE BOX! This just lets us know who is interested in what areas - so that we can reach out to interested individuals with more info!
The survey closes February 28th.
What happens next
In MARCH, our current leadership team will get together and review the survey results. They'll reach out to everyone who is interested in a Board Officer or Chair position first to talk more about it - and help find the best fit for each role.
After our Officers and Chairs have been determined, the Chairs will work together with our current leadership team to select Leads for each topic - speaking with everyone who is interested to find the best fit. If multiple people show interest in one role, we'll work together to determine a Lead, but then have a ready-made committee of support, which will also support succession planning for the future of the PTO!
At our MAY Board meeting, we'll vote in our new Board Officers and Chairs (committee leads do not need to be voted on). By the summer - we'll be ready to hit the ground running!
A NOTE ABOUT SPRING EVENTS
While this survey/structure is about NEXT school year - some of our events for spring this year are still to come! If you check a box for a topic that occurs in the spring... we'd love to reach out to get you involved this year!
