This Week at Hicks

ALL WEEK:

Team Kids Coin Drive has been EXTENDED through this week! With such an important cause (benefitting the Red Cross and Fire Relief) - they've decided to keep it open through Friday! See updated details about Team Kids (and the upcoming Carnival) below.

TODAY!

The PBIS Parent Survey CLOSES at 3 PM! Take a few moments to complete the Survey. It takes less than 5 minutes, but really helps the school gain insight into the program - to see what's working well and where improvements can be made! As a PTO - we love to see how HCE Teachers and Staff welcome family input - and this is a great way for everyone to have a voice!

Tuesday - Friday:

Our 5th Graders are off to Outdoor Ed! Have an amazing time Huskies!

Friday:

PTO meeting: 10:30 AM in the Small Multipurpose Room (you must check in at the front office before heading to the meeting) or call in on Zoom.

Husky Happenings

TEAM KIDS

Team Kids is a national school-based, student-led youth leadership program bringing together students with on-duty police officers, firefighters, mentors, and Team Kids local university intern volunteers.

4th and 5th grade students who wish to participate on the leadership team VOTE on local causes they want to amplify. Weekly school-wide challenges take place leading up to a CARNIVAL (Feb 21) with all proceeds benefiting a local charity of the leadership team’s choice!

What's the Carnival?

The Leadership Team meets weekly during the Team Kids Challenge to plan a carnival that takes place during school hours (ours is on Feb 21) - with games and activities students can play with purchased tickets. The proceeds from the carnival benefit a charity chosen by the leadership team! Stay tuned for details on how YOUR Husky can participate!

PBIS Pizza Party!

Last Friday was our THIRD Husky Pizza party of the year!

These quarterly parties are hosted by the PTO as a reward for students earning "Husky Points" in PBIS. Students can use their points to join for a special pizza lunch with Mr. Drake and Mrs. Vela... BINGO and of course... PRIZES!

Robotics Extravaganza!

Our Robotics team competed in the "TUSD Extravaganza" this weekend - and kept that trophy count (and photo album pics) growing!

"Team C" brought home the Design Award, while "Team A" collected the Think Award and 2nd place in Teamwork! Incredible job!

Art Master's Assembly

Last Wednesday was our 3rd Art Master's Assembly (out of 5 this year) - highlighting the work of Alexander Calder.

Over the next 2 weeks - parent volunteers will join students in the classroom to lead Calder-inspired individual projects!
